Thursday, Friday, I'm in love...

An update for those of you who are curious as to what is happening in the world of Turtle-san.

Wesley.

He is growing like a WEED. We don't know how much he weighs, or how tall he is, as he hasn't been near a scale since we've been here. Just know, he is a BIG boy!
He is SO active, too. Put him on his tummy and he scoots about, in circles, reaching for his toys and other things that he wants. He is also rolling over, pushing his legs down when he is sitting up, to stand, he reaches for things, drinks from a sippy cup, and as of today is making "words" (He said "Dada" which is VERY exciting, and scary at the same time!) he is smiling, laughing, blowing raspberries and still working on those three teeth (which are JUST under the gum. We can see them, feel them, but they just haven't popped through!)
He has dropped from three naps a day to two. He now sleeps 11 hours at night, and has two 2 hour naps a day, which is nice for us both!
He is a VERY happy boy, who is smart and a joy to be around.

Tommy.

Tommy is working hard. His hours at the clinic are 6:30am - 3:00/3:30pm which is actually a lot nicer than it sounds. Wes is up early anyway, so it is nice to have him home early in the afternoon, so we get lots of family time.
He is working in Operation Medical, who do the Overseas screenings for deployments, and moving to overseas duty stations. He is enrolling into college for the next term, in a few weeks, because he needs to have 30 credit hours to qualify for the Officer Program with the Navy. He is doing lots of volunteer roles within the clinic (Exceptional Family Member Program Co-odinator, for example) to make sure he is seen as a great candidate.

Erin.

Erin has her Green Card, finally. And she is starting to apply for some part time work, just for a little extra adult inaction. Plus after 3+ years of not working, she is ready to go back to work, at least very-part-time.

As A Whole.

We're are hunting to purchase our first home. We have lots of look at and are in no rush. We have a 14 month leave on the townhouse where we are now, so if we find something tomorrow, great. But if it takes us a year, not a problem either.

Our furniture and other household goods arrive tomorrow (Thursday) which is exciting. We are ready to have couches again, if nothing else. (Our airbed has proven to be glorious to sleep on! We are both sleeping SO well on it!) We are going to attempt to keep as much of it packed as possible so that when the time comes to move again, we don't have to re-pack. We'll see how that goes!

That's about it for us, right now, but stayed tuned. We might have house news here soon!

Exciting Day Da-da!

Today is an exciting day. Wes, after making squealing/talking noises for quite a while, today he started, out of the blue saying "ba-ba-ba-ba."

And then all of a sudden he said "Dada"

So we have a kid who "talks" now, which is exciting.

Virginia is for Lovers

So we're back in Virginia. We've been here for a little over a week now.

We're in our house, which for the record is very comfortable. We are on the waiting list for a three bedroom in our complex, but after much discussion, we don't think we're going to take it when our time comes up. We don't NEED three bedrooms. We just wanted three so we could have a guest room and a little extra storage. But the way our living room is set up, we can fit in a sofa bed/fouton and it would be MUCH cheaper to put whatever we need to store into a storage unit than the extra rent. We want to save as much as we can because we ultimately want to buy!

We're sitting at home right now, watching the news as we are expecting a snow storm tonight/tomorrow with more snow expected in the 24 hours than has fallen in this area than in many years. Exciting and nerve wracking!

Not too much is happening - it's quite quiet, with Tommy starting working 6:30 - 3:30, and me and Wesley staying home and out of the cold. But rest assured, should anything happen - I'll pop it in here and keep you all up to date.

Love and miss you all. xxx

Farewell Florida

This week is our last in Florida. We plan on leaving on Thursday-ish. I am not sure if that means Thursday night or Thursday morning, yet. I guess I'll make a mental note to ask Tommy what his plans are.

Florida has been fun and relaxing. Wesley has had a blast getting to know Sherry and Kris. He loves his Grandma and Grandpa and his cheeks are getting chapped from all the kisses!

It's really scary, exciting and crazy how much he has learnt and achieved in the couple of weeks we've been here. He is so alert, so smiley, plays on his own on a blanket with some toys (ask anyone who has spent 3 seconds with Wes. He WAS hopeless at entertaining himself. He always needed someones attention, which was quite exhausting!) he does tummy time like a champion, reaches for toys (and other things) he wants, he has teeth right below the gum that we can see, he rolls over... it's really crazy and a little sad at the same time.

I've been doing some cooking for everyone which has been fun. Tommy, of course, knows I love to cook, and has tasted a lot ofmy favourite recipes - but Sherry, Kris and Jonathan are new. Sherry loves pasta, so I've made ravioli and lasagna just for her. And when she ate the lasagna she asked me "Erin, are you sure you're not Italian?" which I thought was pretty high praise :o)

Speaking of making things - last night I made Wesley baby food for the first time. Many of you know that this is an ambition of mine, though with the moving about, and the lack of kitchen gadgets I hadn't made it there yet. However, last night I boiled some organic squash and organic sweet potato and wizzed it up in a a Magic Bullet and it worked beautifully. Wes gobbled it up.

Anywho, I really can't think of anything else to update you on. I don't get online much, and there isn't too much happening. It's mostly just relaxing and spending time with Tommy's family.
